With its western boundary just north of pier park and eastern north of the HWY 98 bridge, West Bay offers some of the largest grass flats and tidal creeks in the Panama City Area. Because of its unique shape, it can offer shelter to angler in even the most challenging fishing conditions. It's habitat can range open grass flats to tight tidal creeks loaded with Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Sheephead.
Running northeast from the 98 bridge, north of Lynn Haven, North Bay is the smallest body of water in the Panama City. Don't let it's size fool you, its narrow flats and skinny creeks can hold huge schools of redfish, but be warned fly fishing these shallow flats can be challenging, even when your fishing guide puts you in position for the perfect shot!
The longest body of water, east to west, east bay offers some of the most remote fishing opportunities in the Panama City area. With Tyndall Air Force Base to its south, you can drift the shallow flats and marshes stalking redfish and trout.
Running from the 98 Bridge out to the Gulf of Mexico, St. Andrew Bay offers the opportunity to target the widest variety of species. Bull Redfish, Trout, Spanish and King Mackerel, Pompano, and Tarpon can all be found in these waters. After a day in St. Andrews, who knows the stories you and your fishing guide will have to tell.
Running from Fort Walton Beach to Point Washington, the Choctawachee Bay is the northern border of Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, and 30A. It's 129 sq miles meet the Gulf of Mexico at Destin Pass in the west, and the inter coastal waterway near Point Washington in the east.
Most known for its annual tarpon migration, the area east of Panama City from Port St. Joe to Mexico Beach serves as a highway for the "Silver King" from May 1st to August each year. In addition to tarpon, the grass flats and sandbars are home to a diverse group of other species such as Spanish and king mackerel, pompano, redfish, and jack crevalle. Don't be surprised to see a tax man (shark) or two in these waters. hammerheads, bull, and tiger sharks can be found in these waters, however, blacktips are the most common.
